Preparation
Always ensure the deck to be painted is suitably prepared, cleaned, sound and dry. Ensure it is free from any contaminates that may affect adhesion or application.
- Brush away any debris with a sweeping brush and wash the surface with a water and mild detergent and allow to dry.
- Remove any green algae growth with a suitable .
- Lightly sand or brush with a non metallic stiff bristle brush to remove any loose particles.
- If grey the surface will need to be sanded back or treated with a decking revivor such as , to achieve a clean surface.
- Remove resinous deposits should be removed with a scrapper and degrease with a clean, lint free cloth dampened with methylated spirits.
- "Knotting agents" should not be used with Sadolin 2in1 Decking Oil.
- Only use non-porous nails and fixings.
- Only suitable for use on bare or previously oiled decking any other treatments will need to be comppletely removed by sanding or applying a stripper such as
Application
We recommend applying a test on a small area of the decking prior to painting to ensure you are happy with the finished results. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin.
- Stir thoroughly and apply using a good quality synthetic brush.
- Do not apply when rain is imminent or at temperatures above 8°C or above 25°C.
- Apply 3 coats allowing 16 hours between coats.
- Pay special attention to end grains and joints.
Due to high level of use and abrasion that decks are exposed to maintenance may be required yearly.
